Horizontal Radiators
One of the lovely aspects of today’s radiator is the fact that a good number of them can actually pass as a wall hanging or work of art as opposed to a functional radiator. In days gone by it was left to the manufacturer to add embellishments to the columns in order to add any style or beauty to the heavy cast iron piece, but contemporary radiators are often hung on walls and are created in such a way as to blend in with the room’s décor. Horizontal radiators are amongst those which are often difficult to notice as a source of heat unless you are almost right on top of them.
Flat Panel Tornado Horizontal Designer Radiator
Some horizontal radiators can also be hung vertically, but those which are truly horizontal are manufactured to run parallel to the floor and of course most are wider than they are tall. There are a few which are almost square when looking at them such as the popular Tornado Horizontal Designer Radiator which has a modernistic flat profile with the heating panels running horizontally parallel to the ceiling and floor. The Tornado comes in white or a choice or RAL colours.
The Enlarged Surface of the Volcano
Another of our most popular horizontal radiators is the Volcano which has become a favourite of interior designers and homeowner’s alike. The unusual horse shoe shaped tubes provide an enlarged heating surface which significantly increases the capacity to heat an area. When shown at the Grand Designs Live recent exhibition in London, the Volcano quickly became the talk of the show not only because of its unique design but also because it comes in a huge assortment of sizes. As well, this is one model which can be either a single or double horizontal radiator.
TRC 16 Tubular Horizontal Designer Radiator
One of our favourites is the TRC 16 tubular radiator that can work well with almost any contemporary décor. It is manufactured from high quality steel which is why it gives off superior heating performance and it is also available in a vertical style as well. The TRC 16 comes in either white or your choice of colours and sizes. As far as modern radiators go, the TRC 16 is one which is quite versatile and as mentioned, can work well with almost any décor imaginable.
Trendy Quba Horizontal Designer Radiator
When you think of horizontal radiators you generally think of models which are mounted on walls. Actually, the traditional floor mounted radiators can also be considered horizontal as they are most often wider than they are tall. The Quba, although a floor mounted radiator, is anything but traditional where the similarities end with the fact that it sits on the floor. One of our trendier models, the Quba is constructed with high quality steel and the unit itself is small but don’t let that fool you. It puts out some serious BTUs and it is elegant to catch the eye of anyone entering the room. The Quba is available in Latte, Anthracite and metallic silver finishes. There are also several sizes to choose from.
The Captivating Joker Designer Radiator
If you want a radiator that is both functional and artistic, you can’t go wrong with the Joker Designer Radiator which is exclusive to us here at the Radiator Gallery. This particular model was the talk of the town at the most recent Grand Designs exhibit in the City and it is the absolute perfect addition to any ‘man room.’ The Joker also works well in a bar or pub where a radiator is called for on a cool British day as it does give off plenty of heat but is an incredible rendition of Batman’s nemesis, the Joker. When in a public setting such as a pub, tables will be at a premium next to this amazing work of art. The Joker comes in two sizes, 650mm x 830mm or 810mm x 1230mm. The only real difference in the size is of course the visibility of the artwork and the output of heat.
The Elegant Italian Picchio Horizontal Designer Radiator
Italians are known for more than l’amore, they have a unique style and elegance when it comes to design and the elegant Picchio horizontal Italian designer radiator is just such an example of Italian décor. Although the Picchio works well in a contemporary room, it is just elegant enough to fit well in almost any design or décor imaginable. It is available in a number of colours and finishes and amazingly enough there is a wide choice of sizes available as well as it comes in sizes from 305mm x 610mm in single panels right up through double panels 605mm x 2010mm in size.
Modernistic Cubic Horizontal Radiator
Although the Cubic horizontal radiator is billed as being the perfect model for any contemporary room, we find that this particular horizontal radiator is absolutely ideal in a 1950’s retro setting. The Cubic horizontal radiator is actually just as the name implies, cubic and it is comprised of little cubes within the main cube to form one of the most stylised radiators we have in our showroom. Constructed from aluminium, the Cubic heats quickly and performs just as wonderfully as it is designed to look. Yes, it works well in any contemporary setting but if you have a retro room, this is a ‘must have’ addition.
In trying to understand exactly what a horizontal radiator is, the one thing you will look for is whether or not it will (or can) lie parallel to ceilings and floors. Although it may at times be just as wide as it is tall, a horizontal radiator is more often wider by its very nature. Horizontal radiators can be floor mounted or wall mounted and they can come in electric or standard versions. Some are also dual heat models which make them even more attractive from a functional perspective.
If you are looking for a horizontal radiator you can be sure the Radiator Gallery has what you are looking for and if it is not in our showroom, chances are we can have it special ordered for you. If there is a radiator out there you are looking for, ask us first as we are happy to find it for you if it is there to be found.
